Q.1 Do I have to have any previous experience within the fitness industry to be considered for the course?

We require a basic understanding of exercise fitness; however you do not need to have any previous qualifications or certificates to complete the course.

Q.2 How do I know I am fit enough to complete the course?

There is no set requirement for the level of fitness of our students, we just ask that you perform the physical components of the course to the best of your ability and expect to see a drive to succeed within these elements. Your physical fitness is a very important part of personal training and we will push you to increase your fitness throughout the course.

Q.3 Who will my tutors be?

At LFE we regard ourselves as the industry experts and all of our tutors have the qualifications and experience to back up this claim. Look at our Tutors section to check for yourself. We guarantee a ratio of 1 tutor to every 8 students so you can rest assured you will be in an optimal learning environment. Our tutors are the best in the industry and all have recognised teaching qualifications.

Q.4 How many students will be in the class?

At LFE we understand the importance of one to one learning opportunities and effective teacher to student ratios. That’s why we guarantee their will be a maximum of 16 students on any course and a teacher to student ratio of 1:8

Q.5 The course is based in London, are travel costs expensive?

We are fully aware that travel costs in and around the London area are expensive and we recommend purchasing a TFL travel card for the duration of you course. A monthly travel card for tube and train travel costs approximately £145 so please factor your travel costs into your planning. Parking near the club is approximately £18 per day plus you have to consider congestion charges so parking daily is not a recommended option.

Q.6 What if I already have completed my Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing?

If you have already completed a Gym Instructing qualification you must provide an original certificate to prove you have completed this element enabling you to complete the Certificate in Personal Training by itself.

Q.7 How do I pay for the course?

For all courses excluding CPD’s we require a deposit of £250 to hold your place. The full payment is then due at least 2 weeks before the course start date. Payments are accepted by cash, check, and credit or debit card over the phone or online. For other payment options we are available to discuss this over the phone, just send a contact request form and we will get back to you.

Q.8 How long are the Level 2 and Level 3 courses?

Both courses are intensive and face to face and can be attended separately or together as a package. The Level 2 Gym Instructor Award is 9 days in total with an extra day to complete the theory assessment. The Certificate in Personal Training is 21 days including all assessments.

Q.9 What do the Level 2 and Level 3 courses entail?

For these intensive courses you will be asked to compile a portfolio of evidence showing the level of competence required by CYQ, our Awarding Body. You will also need to complete a series of assessments including both practical and theory in order to obtain the qualification. CPD courses require the completion of a practical assessment only.

Q.10 What happens when I leave the course?

If you successfully pass the course you will leave with all of the course manuals with the exception of your portfolio which will be withheld during the certification process. You will be issued with a certificate shortly after the course has finished. We are associated with both Virgin Active and Nuffield Health which means a guaranteed interview is available if you wish to work within one of their clubs. During the course you are provided with many other options.

Q.11 What if do not pass the course?

If you do not meet the requirements first time there will be an opportunity to repeat or re submit the elements failed. We cannot issue a certificate until you have passed all the modules required by CYQ.

Q.12 Do I need to be insured when I finish the course?

When working as a fitness professional, you must register with the register of exercise professionals (REPs) to become a recognised trainer. You will then be given the option to obtain insurance which is highly recommended if you do not have it from any other source. Signing up is simple, just visit http://www.exerciseregister.org/REPsJoin.html and follow the instructions to join.

Q.13 What is a CPD?

CPD stands for Continued Professional Development and in order to maintain your membership on the REPs register you will need to attend a number of these a year. They range from courses lasting a number of days to seminars. As long as they hold REPs points you can use them to contribute towards maintaining your membership. Our CPDs include; Kettlebells, Olympic Weight Lifting and Business and Marketing with eSocial Media.
